Drive-ready state in detail  
Concept  
The following are the different drive-ready state  
variants:  
Driving  
Drive-ready state  
Start/Stop button  
Electric drive-ready state  
Pressing the Start/Stop button  
switches standby state on or off.  
The vehicle is powered by the electric motor.  
Starting of combustion engine  
Drive-ready state is switched on  
when you depress the brake  
pedal while pressing the Start/  
The vehicle is powered by the combustion  
engine.  
Stop button.  
Parking brake  
Activate/deactivate drive-ready state  
Setting  
Activating  
Pull the switch.  
1. Depress the brake pedal.  
2. Press the Start/Stop button.  
The LED on the switch and the indicator  
light in the instrument cluster are illuminated.  
The drive-ready state is active: electric driving is  
possible, or the engine can be started.  
Releasing  
With drive-ready state switched on:  
Deactivating  
Press the switch while pressing on the  
brake pedal.  
1. Apply brake and engage the selector lever in  
position P.  
The LED and indicator light go out.  
The parking brake is released.  
2. Set the parking brake.  
3. Press the Start/Stop button.  
Steptronic Sport transmission  
Displays  
READY indicates drive-ready  
state.  
Engaging the transmission positions  
When drive-ready state is  
switched on, the light on the  
Start/Stop button lights up blue.  
In addition, a signal sounds.

Sport/manual mode  
Shift out of P.  
If the vehicle is stationary, press on the brake  
pedal at the same time to change out of P or N.  
Engaging D, R and N  
Activate the Sport program of the vehicle:  
Press the selector lever to the left from selector  
lever position D.  
Manual mode:  
To shift down: press the selector lever for‐  
ward.  
N is Neutral.  
To shift up: pull the selector lever rearwards.  
D is Drive, the driving position.  
R is reverse.  
High beams, headlight flasher, turn  
signal, roadside parking light  
The selector lever returns to the center position  
in each case.  
High beams, headlight flasher  
Engaging P  
Push the lever forward or pull it backward.  
High beams on, arrow 1.  
Press button P.  
The high beams light up when the low beams  
are switched on.

If necessary, clean the area between the charg‐  
ing socket flap and charging socket, for instance  
from snow, before removing it.

1. Unlock the vehicle with the vehicle key if it is  
locked.

2. Press the release button on the handle, ar‐  
row 1, and grasp the charging cable at the  
gripping areas.

Charging process is interrupted.  
Charging the vehicle  
Connecting  
To connect, engage selector lever position P,  
deactivate drive-ready state, and unlock the vehi‐  
cle. Set the parking brake, if needed.  
1. Tap on the charging socket flap, arrow.  
3. Remove the charging cable from the charg‐  
ing socket, arrow 2.  
4. Press on the charging socket flap until it en‐  
gages.  
5. Attach cover of the charging cable plug, if  
needed.  
6. Disconnect Level 1 charging cable from the  
household socket or Level 2 charging cable  
from the port on the charging station as appli‐  
cable.  
2. Remove the cover of the charging cable plug,  
if needed.  
3. Connect Level 1 charging cable to the  
household socket or Level 2 charging cable  
to the port on the charging station.  
7. Stow the charging cable.  
At a charging station, insert the permanently  
installed charging cable in the place provided  
for it.  
4. Insert the appropriate charging cable plug,  
and push it in until it engages.  
Refueling  
Removing  
When the charging process is active and the ve‐  
hicle is locked, the charging cable is automati‐  
cally locked. Unlock the vehicle before removing  
the cable.  
Venting the tank  
Excess pressure may build up in the fuel tank as  
a result of gasoline vapors; this pressure is dissi‐  
pated before the fuel cap is opened.  
When the charging process is completed, the  
charging cable is automatically unlocked.

The button is located on the driver's side on the  
door armrest.  
Information on the recommended fuel grade can  
be found in the Owner's Manual.

Press the button to start the pressure  
equalization.  
Tire inflation pressure specifications  
The tank venting status is displayed in the in‐  
strument cluster. In rare cases, tank venting  
can last several minutes.  
When tank venting has finished, a message is  
displayed in the instrument cluster. The fuel  
cap is released for opening.  
3. Open the fuel filler flap.  
If it is not possible to open the fuel filler flap  
after tank venting, press the button again.  
The pressure values for tire sizes approved by  
the manufacturer of the vehicle for the vehicle  
type are on the door pillar of the driver's door.  
If it is still not possible to open the fuel filler  
flap even after pressing the button again, un‐  
lock the fuel filler flap manually.  
Checking the tire inflation pressure  
Regularly check the tire inflation pressure and  
correct it as needed:  
Fuel cap  
1. Press the rear edge of the fuel filler flap to  
open it.  
At least twice a month.  
Before embarking on an extended trip.  
Electronic oil measurement  
Requirements  
Depending on the previous displays, the status  
display appears when the engine is running or af‐  
ter the vehicle has been driven for at least 30 mi‐  
nutes.  
2. Turn the fuel cap counterclockwise.  
3. Place the fuel cap in the bracket attached to  
the fuel filler flap.  
Displaying the engine oil level  
On the Control Display:  
1. "My Vehicle"  
Gasoline  
2. "Vehicle status"  
For the best fuel efficiency, the gasoline should  
be sulfur-free or very low in sulfur content.  
3.  
"Engine oil level"  
Refuel only with unleaded gasoline without met‐  
allic additives.  
Different messages appear on the Control Dis‐  
play depending on the engine oil level. Pay atten‐  
tion to these messages.

cle before engine oil is added.

Roadside Assistance.  
ConnectedDrive  
Concierge service  
The BMW Assist Concierge service offers infor‐  
mation on events, gas stations or hotels, and  
provides phone numbers and addresses. Many  
hotels can be booked directly by the BMW Con‐  
cierge service. The Concierge service is part of  
the optional BMW Assist Response Center.  
After being requested to do so by a message on  
the Control Display:  
Observe the quantity to be added in the mes‐  
sage.  
1. "ConnectedDrive"  
2. "Concierge"  
Take care not to add too much engine oil.  
Observe recommended engine oil types.  
Teleservices  
Teleservices are services that help to maintain  
vehicle mobility.  
Providing assistance
