Button Function

Press the button.
▷ Tilt in four directions to switch between dis‐
plays, for example.
The main menu is displayed.
All iDrive functions can be called up via the main
menu.

Adjusting the main menu
Press once: calls up the main menu.
Press twice: displays all menu items of
the main menu.

Press the button twice.
All menu items of the main menu are dis‐
played.
Opens the Communication menu.
2. Select a menu item.
Opens the Media/Radio menu.
3. To move the menu item to the desired posi‐
tion, tilt the Controller to the right or left.

Selecting menu items
Opening recently used menus
Highlighted menu items can be selected.
Press and hold this button.
1. Turn the Controller until the desired menu
item is highlighted.
The recently used menus are displayed.
Opening the Options menu
Press the button.
The "Options" menu is displayed.
The menu consists of various areas:
▷ Screen settings, for instance "Split screen".
▷ Control options for the selected main menu,
for instance for "Media/Radio".
2. Press the Controller.
▷ If applicable, further operating options for the
selected menu, for instance "Save station".
Dynamic contents
You can display dynamic contents within the
menu items. The contents of the menu items
update automatically, e.g., the active destination
guidance in the navigation. To access the dy‐
namic content directly, tap on the lower section
of the menu item.
Changing settings
Settings, such as brightness, can be entered.
Via iDrive:
1. "My Vehicle"
2. "iDrive settings"
3. "Displays"
Via iDrive:
1. "My Vehicle"
4. "Control display"
5. "Brightness at night"
2. "Contents of main menu"
6. Turn the Controller until the desired setting is
displayed.
Changing between displays
After a menu item is selected, for instance
"iDrive settings", a new display appears.
7. Press the Controller.
▷ Move the Controller to the left.
Entering letters and numbers
The current display closes and the previous
display is shown.
Input
1. Turn the Controller: select letter or number.
▷
Press the button.
2.
: confirm entry.
The previous display re-opens.
▷ Move the Controller to the right.
The new display opens.
An arrow indicates that additional displays can be
opened.

Deleting
Symbol Function
Adjusting the main menu
Press the Controller: delete letter or
number.

Tap on the symbol.
All menu items of the main menu are dis‐
played.
Hold the Controller down: delete all
letters or numbers.
2. Drag the menu item to the desired position
on the right or left.
Using alphabetical lists
For alphabetical lists with more than 30 entries,
the letters for which there is an entry are dis‐
played at the left edge.
Selecting menu items
Tap the desired menu item.
1. Turn the Controller to the left or right quickly.
All letters for which there are entries are dis‐
played on the left edge.
2. Select the first letter of the desired entry.
The first entry of the selected letter is dis‐
played.
Operation via touchscreen
Dynamic contents
You can display dynamic contents within the
menu items. The contents of the menu items
update automatically, e.g., the active destination
guidance in the navigation. To access the dy‐
namic content directly, tap on the lower section
of the menu item.
General information
The Control Display is equipped with a touch‐
screen.
Touch the screen with your fingers. Do not use
any objects.
