CONTROLS  
Messages after trip completion  
Certain messages displayed while driving are dis‐  
played again after standby state is switched off.  
Coolant temperature  
If the coolant along with the engine becomes too  
hot, a Check Control message is displayed.  
A red indicator light is displayed.  
Fuel gauge  
To check the coolant level, refer to page 223.  
Odometer and trip odometer  
Display  
Odometer, scope of the Onboard Computer.  
Trip odometer, lower right display in the in‐  
strument cluster.  
Vehicle tilt position may cause the display to  
vary.  
Follow the information on refueling.  
Showing/resetting miles  
Press the button.  
The yellow indicator light illuminates,  
once the fuel reserve is reached.  
With standby state switched  
off, the time, the external tem‐  
perature and the odometer are  
displayed.  
Tachometer  
When standby state is switched on, the trip  
odometer is reset.  
The tachometer is only available in the Sport  
program.  
Always avoid engine speeds in the red warning  
field. In this range, the fuel supply is reduced to  
protect the engine.  
External temperature  
General information  
If the indicator drops to +37 ℉/+3 ℃ or lower, a  
signal sounds.  
Engine oil temperature  
A Check Control message is displayed.  
There is an increased risk of ice on roads.  
If the engine oil becomes too hot, along with the  
engine, a Check Control message is displayed.  
When the engine oil temperature is too  
high, a red indicator light is displayed.

Climate and terrain conditions.  
When the remaining range is low:  
Safety information  
A Check Control message is displayed briefly.  
Warning  
The remaining range is shown on the On‐  
board Computer.  
Even at temperatures above +37 ℉/+3 ℃  
there can be a risk of icy roads, for instance on  
bridges or shady sections of the road. There is  
a risk of accident. Modify your driving style to  
the weather conditions at low temperatures.  
With a dynamic driving style, for instance fast  
cornering, the engine function is not always  
ensured.  
The Check Control message is continuously dis‐  
played below a certain range.  
When the fuel level is low, MAX eDRIVE is auto‐  
matically selected to protect the combustion en‐  
gine if the requirements for electric driving are  
met. The Steptronic Sport program is not availa‐  
ble.  
Time  
The time is displayed in the instrument cluster.  
The time can be set on the Control Display.  
You may continue driving with reduced perform‐  
ance and exclusively with electric motor power.  
Date  
Follow further instructions on refueling.  
The date is displayed in the Onboard Computer.  
Display  
The date and date format can be set on the Con‐  
trol Display.  
Range  
General information  
The range can be displayed as the range for  
electric driving or as total range. The total range  
considers the contents of the fuel tank as well as  
the electric energy in the high-voltage battery.  
The following information about the range is dis‐  
played:  
Various factors, such as the automatic climate  
control settings, are taken into account when cal‐  
culating the electric range. The electric range  
value is adapted dynamically.  
Bars indicating fuel fill level, arrow 1.  
Charge state of the high-voltage battery, ar‐  
row 2.  
The following factors are taken into account  
when calculating the range:  
Range for electric driving in MAX eDRIVE  
mode, arrow 3.  
Automatic climate control settings.  
Driving style.  
Total range from fuel supply and electric  
range, arrow 4.  
Traffic conditions.  
Two Check Control messages alert you when  
the total range is low.  
Program change via Driving Dynamics Con‐  
trol.
