lights on. The headlight glass does not need to
be changed.
If, despite driving with the headlights switched
on, moisture such as water droplets increas-
ingly forms in the light, have the headlights
checked.
2. Attach the new wiper blade. The wiper
blade must engage audibly.
Vehicle battery
Lights and bulbs
Principle
The vehicle battery is maintenance-free.
Principle
More information on the vehicle battery can be
requested from an authorized service center or
another qualified service center or repair shop.
The bulbs and lights contribute significantly to
driving safety.
All headlights and lights are designed using
LED technology at least.
Safety information
In the event of a malfunction, the vehicle man-
ufacturer recommends having any necessary
work performed by an authorized service cen-
ter or another qualified service center or repair
shop.
DANGER
Contact with live components can lead to an
electric shock. There is a risk of injury or dan-
ger to life. Do not touch any components that
are under voltage.

Flush acid splashes with wa-
ter immediately. In the event of
contact with the eyes or swal-
lowing, seek a physician imme-
diately.
Vehicle batteries that are not recommended
can damage vehicle systems and impair ve-
hicle functions. There is a risk of accident, in-
jury, and property damage. Only use vehicle
batteries recommended by the vehicle manu-
facturer. For information on suitable vehicle
batteries, contact an authorized service cen-
ter or another qualified service center or re-
pair shop.
No direct daylight, no frost.
Follow the operating instruc-
tions.
Registering the vehicle battery in
the vehicle
Explosive gas mixture. Do not
close any openings of the bat-
tery.
The vehicle manufacturer recommends hav-
ing an authorized service center or another
qualified service center or repair shop register
the vehicle battery to the vehicle after the bat-
tery has been changed. Once the battery has
been registered again, all comfort features will
be available without limitation and any Check
Control messages displayed which relate to
comfort features will disappear.
Charging the vehicle battery
Principle
Make sure that the vehicle battery is always
sufficiently charged to ensure that the vehicle
battery can be used for its entire service life.
A discharged battery is indicated by a
red indicator light.
Hazard icons
The following hazard symbols can be found on
the vehicle battery:

Charging the vehicle battery
To charge the vehicle battery, first switch off
the engine, then use the jump-start terminals
in the engine compartment.
Contact with live components can lead to an
electric shock. There is a risk of injury or dan-
ger to life. Do not touch any components that
are under voltage.
With mild hybrid technology: Open the hood
before charging the vehicle battery.
General information
Additional information:
The battery for mild hybrid technology is lo-
cated below the cargo area floor. On vehicles
equipped with mild hybrid technology, do not
remove the cargo area floor or fold up the front
part.

Mild Hybrid technology
Fuses
Principle
Part of the Mild Hybrid technology is a battery
that works with a voltage of 48 volts. Mild Hy-
brid technology can lower the fuel consump-
tion.
General information
The fuses are located at different places in the
vehicle.
