button on the vehicle key again to unlock the
other vehicle access points.
Panic mode
You can trigger the alarm system if you find your‐
self in a dangerous situation.
Press and hold the button on the vehi‐
cle key after unlocking.
Press the button on the vehicle key for
at least 3 seconds.
The windows and the glass sunroof are opened,
as long as the button on the vehicle key is
pressed.
To switch off the alarm: press any button.

Comfort Access
Concept
The vehicle can be accessed without operating
the vehicle key.
Concept
The tailgate can be opened and closed with no-
touch activation using the vehicle key you are
carrying.
Carrying the vehicle key with you, e.g., in your
pants pocket, is sufficient.
The vehicle automatically detects the vehicle key
when it is in close proximity or in the car's inte‐
rior.
Performing the foot movement
1. Stand in the middle behind the vehicle at ap‐
prox. one arm's length away from the rear of
the vehicle.
Unlocking the vehicle
2. Wave a foot under the vehicle in the direction
of travel and immediately pull it back. With
this movement, the leg must pass through
the ranges of both sensors.
Grasp the door handle on the driver's or front
passenger door completely.
Locking the vehicle

Opening
Touch the surface on the door handle of the driv‐
er's or front passenger door with your finger for
approx. 1 second without grasping the door han‐
dle.
▷ Unlock the vehicle and press the button on
the tailgate.
▷ If carrying the vehicle key, press the button
on the tailgate.

Depending on the setting, the doors may also

Closing
The indicator/warning lights can light up in a vari‐
ety of combinations and colors.
Several of the lights are checked for proper func‐
tioning and light up temporarily when the engine
is started or the ignition is switched on.
Driver's door
▷ Press button on the inside of the tailgate, ar‐
row 1.
▷ Press button, arrow 2.
The vehicle will be locked after closing the
tailgate. The driver's door must be closed for
this purpose and the vehicle key must be out‐
side of the vehicle in the area of the tailgate.

Concept
CarPlay allows certain functions of a compatible
Apple iPhone to be used via Siri voice operation
and iDrive.
The Bluetooth name of the vehicle appears
on the mobile phone display. Select the Blue‐
tooth name of the vehicle.

number is displayed or the control number
must be entered.
Functional requirements
▷ Compatible iPhone.
▷ Compare the control number displayed
on the Control Display with the control
number on the display of the device.
iPhone 5 or later with iOS 7.1 or later.

Confirm the control number on the device
and on the Control Display.
▷ Bluetooth, WiFi, and Siri voice operation are
switched on on the iPhone.
▷ Enter and confirm the same control num‐
ber on the device and via iDrive.

Steptronic transmission: starting
1. Depress the brake pedal.
Drive mode D.
Engage selector lever position P or R only when
the vehicle is stationary.
2. Press the Start/Stop button.
To prevent the vehicle from creeping after you
select a drive mode or reverse, maintain pressure
on the brake pedal until you are ready to start.
Steptronic transmission: switching off
1. When the vehicle is stationary, apply the
parking brake.
Selector lever lock
2. Engage selector lever position P.
3. Press the Start/Stop button.
A lock prevents an inadvertent change from se‐
lector lever position P to another selector lever
position and, depending on the transmission ver‐
sion, inadvertent switching to selector lever posi‐
tion P or R.
Auto Start/Stop function
Steptronic transmission: switches the engine off
automatically while stationary to save fuel. The
engine starts automatically when the brake pedal
is released.
To release the lock: with the brake pedal de‐
pressed, press the button on the front or side of
the selector lever.

Adding engine oil
Tire inflation pressure specifications General information
Switch off the ignition and safely park the vehicle
before engine oil is added.
Adding
The tire inflation pressure values can be found
on the sign on the door pillar.
After correcting the tire inflation
pressure
For run-flat tires: reinitialize run-flat tires.
Only add engine oil when the message is dis‐
played in the instrument cluster.
Observe the quantity to be added in the mes‐
sage.
For the Tire Pressure Monitor TPM: reset the
Tire Pressure Monitor TPM.
Take care not to add too much engine oil.
Observe recommended engine oil types.
Checking the tire inflation pressure
Regularly check the tire inflation pressure and
correct it as needed:
