Display in case of inefficient driving
style
Display on the control display
The display of the efficiency analysis shows
the efficiency of the driving style.
When driving above the efficient range,
an arrow will be displayed.
The more efficient the driving style, the larger
the bars of the evaluation categories.
For instance, this is displayed for the
following situations:
In contrast, a reduced area will be displayed
with an inefficient driving style.
Excessive acceleration.
Excessive speed.
Adaptive recuperation
In addition, a notice to coast in advance is dis-
played.
Principle
Adaptive recuperation supports an anticipatory
and comfort-oriented driving style.
Driving style analysis
The system decides based on the situation
if and how much the energy is recovered
through recuperation or if the vehicle coasts.
Depending on the strength of the recupera-
tion, the vehicle is decelerated differently while
coasting.
Principle
In this situation, the function helps develop an
especially efficient driving style and to save en-
ergy.
For this purpose, the driving style is analyzed.
The assessment is done in various categories
and is displayed on the control display.
General information
This display will help you adjust your driving
style and save some energy.
Various sensors analyze the current driving sit-
uation, e.g., the distance to the vehicle in front.
Adaptive recuperation is available depending
on the equipment and national-market version.
General information
The range of the vehicle can be extended by
adjusting your driving style.
Functional requirements
The current trip is analyzed.
The system active under the following condi-
tions:
Functional requirement
This function is available in ECO PRO driving
mode.
Selector lever position D is engaged.
Brake pedal not depressed.
Accelerator pedal not operated.
Dynamic Stability Control is activated.

DRIVING TIPS
Depending on vehicle equipment and national-
market version, adaptive recuperation can be
deactivated/activated manually on the control
display.
Coasting
Principle
The electric drivetrain makes it possible to roll
without consuming energy. This driving condi-
tion is referred to as coasting.
1.
Apps menu
2. "Vehicle"
3. "Driving settings"
General information
An anticipatory driving style helps the driver
to use the function often and supports the en-
ergy-saving effect of coasting.
4. "Drivetrain and chassis"
5. "Energy recovery in D"
6. Select the desired setting.
Coasting is automatically adapted to the re-
spective driving situation.
Configuring the recuperation level
The recuperation level can be adjusted.
Additional information:
Depending on vehicle equipment, coastingis
displayed in the Live Vehicle menu as Efficient
coasting.
Driving in detail: eDRIVE, refer to page 127.
Additional information:
Display
Current driving condition, refer to page 155.
Display in the instrument cluster
Adaptive recuperation can be displayed on the
instrument cluster.
Exemplary driving situations
If you can travel a certain distance without any
foreseeable need to brake, it is beneficial to
coast.
Additional information:
Power gauge, refer to page 148.
The following exemplary driving situations may
be suitable:
Display on the control display
The adaptive recuperation can be displayed on
the control display.
Rolling on a straight downhill route without
obstacles.
Coasting on a distance without obstacles.
Additional information:
Avoid late or strong braking.
Current driving condition, refer to page 155.

System limits
Adaptive recuperation cannot be used, or can
only be used to a limited extent, in the follow-
ing situations:
Selector lever position D is engaged.
The brake has not been applied.
The accelerator pedal has not been
pressed.
When Active Cruise Control is on.
Dynamic Stability Control is activated.
If driver assistance system sensors are de-
fective, dirty, or covered.
