Arrow 1: successive yellow illuminated
fields indicate an increase in the speed.
Safety belt on the driver's side is not
buckled. For some country-specific
models: passenger belt is not worn or
objects are detected on the front passenger
seat.
Arrow 2: successive orange illuminated
fields indicate the upcoming shift moment.
Arrow 3: fields are illuminated in red. Do
not wait any further to shift.
Indicator lamp flashes or is illuminated: safety
belt on the driver or passenger side is not
buckled. The safety belt reminder can also be
activated if objects are placed on the front pas‐
senger seat.
When the maximum possible speed is
reached, the entire display flashes. When the
maximum speed is exceeded, the supply of
fuel is interrupted in order to protect the en‐
gine.
Make sure that the safety belts are positioned
correctly.
Check Control
Airbag system
Concept
Airbag system and belt tensioner are
not working.
The Check Control system monitors functions
in the vehicle and notifies you of malfunctions
in the monitored systems.
Have the vehicle checked immediately
by a dealer’s service center or another quali‐
fied service center or repair shop.
General information
A Check Control message is displayed as a
combination of indicator or warning lights and
SMS text messages in the instrument cluster
and in the Head-up Display.

Increase distance.
Anti-lock Braking System ABS
Indicator light flashes: acute warning of the im‐
minent danger of a collision when the vehicle
approaches another vehicle at a relatively high
differential speed.
Braking force boost may not be work‐
ing. Avoid abrupt braking. Take the lon‐
ger braking distance into account.

cumstances:
Flat Tire Monitor, refer to page 114.
This indicates that there is excessive mis‐
firing in the engine.
Tire Pressure Monitor TPM
Reduce the vehicle speed and have the
system checked immediately; otherwise,
serious engine misfiring within a brief pe‐
riod can seriously damage emission con‐
trol components, in particular the catalytic
converter.
The indicator light illuminates.
The Tire Pressure Monitor reports a
low tire inflation pressure or a flat tire.
Observe the information in the Check Control
message.
The indicator light flashes and then illuminates

The visibility of the displays in the Head-up
Display is influenced by the following factors:
▷
▷
Certain sitting positions.
Objects on the cover of the Head-up Dis‐
play.
▷
▷
▷
Sunglasses with certain polarization filters.
Wet roads.
Unfavorable light conditions.
If the image is distorted, have the basic set‐
tings checked by a dealer’s service center or
another qualified service center or repair shop.
Follow the instructions for cleaning the Head-
up Display, refer to page 247.
Special windshield
The windshield is part of the system.
The shape of the windshield makes it possible
to display a precise image.
A film in the windshield prevents double im‐
ages from being displayed.
For this reason, it is strongly suggested to
have the special windshield replaced by a deal‐
er’s service center or another qualified service
center or repair shop, if necessary.
